Mexico Abroad organized its fourth annual celebration of del Dia de Muertos (the Day of the Dead) in collaboration with the Sidespace Gallery to mount an exhibition of related artwork. The celebration comes from ages nobody remembers. Once a year in Mexico, people with family members who have passed to the spirit world await the return of loved ones. On November 1, death does not evoke loss, but rather that strange wandering that all life yearns for. Altars are built in homes and in public, often incorporating the marigold flower, to welcome back loved ones and to celebrate and honour the spirit world.
